1: a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep
Our dreams; they are the real gateway to our true self or are they? The dreams we have are sparked by our anxiety, joy, excitement, sadness. Our dreams are manifestations of our current state of mind. My dreams are backwards, upside down, reverse, inverse, right side up. It disturbs me.
I often have a dream where people are standing with their backs to each other, but their clothes are on straight so it’s as if the backs of their heads were the fronts and the faces were the back. But everyone walked in their normal direction but functioned in opposite directions, with their clothes on backwards. They have mirrors to allow them to see. In this dream I walk into the living room and they all turn towards me. The backs of their heads staring straight at me. I am the outsider. I often wake at that moment. Not out of shock or fear. More that I run out of time. I never get past that point. This dream is not one I have regularly but I do have it often enough that it resonates with me.
I have pondered this dream’s meaning. On the surface one would think I feel like an outsider, but that’s not it. I don’t feel that way. Quite the opposite. What I believe is that I want to be the outsider. I crave the outsiders attention. I crave any attention, but the outsider gets everyone’s attention.
What happens in my dream next is a mystery. What I am exploring with this project is the twisted landscape of my dreams. I have enlisted the help of my family to assist.

What I learned from this experience is that while we sleep our minds shuffle through the experiences of our life. Taking images, instances, conversations, thoughts, and ideas; slams it in a blender creating a dreamscape that can terrify or inspire. Which did My Dream do for you?
